About Kate
I am a learning specialist and educational consultant with over 20 years of experience working with children who have language-based learning differences and executive functioning weaknesses. I specialize in delivering Orton Gillingham reading instruction and also provide individualized tutoring for writing and math, with a focus on strengthening executive functioning skills. I also provide counseling services to families who need help obtaining and interpreting neuropsychological evaluations. I am here to provide hand-holding through the daunting process of securing special education services and all that that journey entails. Having developed a solid network in NYC and beyond, I am looking forward to expanding my private practice to Westchester. All services are also available virtually.
I have a Masters of Science in Education (MS.Ed) with a dual degree in general and special education. I am also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a Licensed Behavior Analyst in New York State (LBA). In addition to years of training in Orton Gillingham reading instruction, I have spent many years using Basic Writing Skills/Writing Revolution, Stern Structural Arithmetic, and PAF, among other multi-sensory curricula. I have spent my career collaborating with language pathologists, occupational therapists, behaviorists, and neuropsychologists, as well as training and supervising educators. I value transparency and taking a team approach!
